Tianjin pays much attention to the infrastructure construction. Efforts are made to improve investment environment and develop Tianjin into a modern city. The total mileage of highways is 8085 km with the paving rate of 95%. Hundreds of bridges smoothen the transport and road situation takes a lead in the country together with the complete facilities.     Water   The supply capacity of tap water in center city is 2.03 million cubic meters/day with the sewage treatment rate of 53% and rainwater service rate of 51%.
    Electricity   The high-voltage power transmission network has been set up with 560 substations with over 35 kw. The total installed capacity reaches 50.4 million kw.
    Heat   Tianjin has many kinds of heat sources including pyroelectric(heat and power), geothermal energy and boiler room heat supply. By the end of 2000, the residential heat supply covers 42.25 million square meters, 57.5% of the total.
    Gas   The gas tubes reach 5745 km with the annual gas supply of 441.25 million square meters.
    Communication   Tianjin ranks the third in the handling capacity of over million phones. The direct call can reach over 1700 cities and towns in the country and 260 countries and regions. The network and multi-channel post has been formed including wired & wireless communication, land, sea and air communication. "Door to door" express service and Internet have rapidly developed.
    The setup of Tianjin Information Port will satisfy the local exchange of the same city and make Tianjin one of the minor provinces and cities which have city-region
