    Geographic Environment
    Tianjin lies geographically from 38°34'to 40°15' north latitude and from 116°43' to 118°04' east longitude. It has coastline of 152.8 kilometers and total area is 11919.7sq. km. Landform is mainly the alluvial plain, which can benefit the plantation of agricultural crops and the construction of railway and highway. Mountainous area and hilly land only account for 4.6% of the total area. The City Flower is China rose and the City Bird is Sea-gull.
    The climate in Tianjin is between the continental climate and maritime climate. It has clear seasons. The annual average temperature is over 11℃, January is the coldest month, which the temperature is under 4℃ , and July is the hottest month, which the temperature is around 26℃. There are about 190 frostless days.

The annual average precipitation is about 600 mm, and mainly in July and August. The annual average sunlight hours are 2610-3090 hours.
Tianjin is a city of industry and commerce seaport with the history of 600 years. It is one of the cradles for modern industry in China. Tianjin is the biggest opening coastal city in north China. The distance to the Bohai sea is 50 km on the east. The capital Beijing is 120 km away on the northwest. It has vast hinterland, which can spread widely in north China of 500 sq. km. Tianjin is the municipality directly under the Central Government of P. R.C. and is the economic center of around Bohai area in China. Now it is under the construction of becoming modern seaport city and important economic center of north China. Meanwhile, Tianjin is also a well-known city of historical culture, which is approved by the nation.
